New Regulations on the Transport of Liquids, Aerosols, and Gels (LAGs)
Starting from September 1, 2024, the European Commission has introduced new regulations concerning the transport of liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) through Regulation (EU) 2024/2108 and Decision (EU) 2024/2109. These changes apply to passengers departing from airports equipped with EDS-CB C3 screening technology for hand luggage, including Linate, Malpensa, Bologna and Roma Fiumicino airports.
What’s changing:
• 100 ml Limit: The maximum limit of 100 ml per individual container of LAGs will be reinstated. This is similar to the rules already in place at airports with traditional X-ray screening technology.
• No Separation Required: Containers of LAGs up to 100 ml can remain inside hand luggage during screening. There is no longer a need to separate them into transparent bags with a maximum capacity of 1 liter.
• No Limit on Number: There are no restrictions on the number of containers of LAGs up to 100 ml that you can carry.
• Electronic Items: Electronic and electrical items can stay inside hand luggage during screening, without the need for separation.
Important Note: Existing exemptions for LAGs for children, medicinal and dietary LAGs, and LAGs purchased at the airport will remain in place. These items will undergo additional checks using the Liquid Explosive Detection System (LEDS).
Showing at check-in
It is strongly advisable to be at the airport with enough time so to be
able to go through all the necessary procedures with relative calm. The check-in desks for the short and medium distance flights open 3 hours
before the scheduled departure and close exactly 60 minutes before
it. The check-in desks for the long distance flights open 4 hours before the scheduled departure and close exactly 60 minutes before it.
Attention
Boarding closes 30 minutes before the flight’s scheduled departure time.
If you are late, we will not wait for you, we will unload your luggage and you will lose the right to board.
Security checks
All departing passengers, before accessing the boarding areas, must undergo a security check.
In order to avoid any delays during the boarding operations of the flight, Neos strongly advises its passengers to be at the security check areas soon after checking in. During such security checks it is necessary to collaborate with the airport officers and place the following objects in the dedicated tray: lighters, belts, mobile phones, credit cards, wallets/coin purses, keys, watches, bracelets, rings, jackets with zips and buttons.
In the event that the metal detector signals the presence of metal parts , you may be required to repeat the controls or to open their hand luggage for carrying out an inspection manual.
Passengers who bring cardiac pacemakers or metal implants - in case they preferred not to cross the metal detector - can alert the carrier and airport security personnel, who will proceed to the manual control of these passengers, making them pass through a dedicated lane. And essential to have with him a medical certificate confirming their disability.
Behavioural rules
Useful information on the behaviour on land and on board that is required for security and safety reasons.
IN ORDER TO GUARANTEE THE FLIGHT AND THE FELLOW TRAVELLERS’ SECURITY AND SAFETY, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION!
Here below please find some behaviours that do not abide by, and are not accepted under, the security and safety standards both during the flight and on land (before boarding and boarding).
At check-in and upon boarding
Any injurious and aggressive form of behavior towards the airport land personnel, the Airline personnel and other passengers is severely forbidden. No verbal and/or physical aggressive behaviour will be tolerated. Our personnel will report such behaviour to the Airport and Police Authorities with consequent course of action. It is also forbidden to check in luggage on behalf of third parties (not part of one’s family) as well as to accept objects, envelopes, suitcases and bags from other passengers.
On board
Our crew members are professionally trained to aptly deal with different situations of danger resulting from alcohol and drug abuse, from the use of offensive language, from threatening and/or violent behaviours. Any behaviour infringing upon the safety and security regulations on board will be severely prosecuted and all necessary measures will be adopted. The passenger will be eventually handed over to the local Authorities in charge once at destination.
Smoking
For the flight safety and for the passengers’ health, it is strictly forbidden to smoke on board. In particular, smoking in the toilets (and in other specific areas) is therefore a matter for criminal prosecution. The smoking ban on board our flights is also extended to the so-called “electronic cigarettes.”
Alcohol and drugs
People under the influence of alcohol and drugs will not be allowed on board.
Emergency equipment
It is forbidden to damage, temper with or remove emergency equipment (i.e. life jackets, seat belts, etc.). Such behaviours could put the flight and other passengers’ safety in danger and are therefore considered crimes to be criminally prosecuted.
Passengers' cabin
The Airline will press legal charges against the passenger that is responsible for damaging/removing any system/part of the cabin (i.e. seats, entertainment system, etc.).
Dangerous material/objects
It is strictly forbidden to take on board dangerous material and substances or forbidden items, as outlined in the available list on such information on the Airline’s website and in the notices displayed at the check-in areas at the airports.
